USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a serial interface for connecting peripheral devices to computing equipment. Received the widest distribution and actually became the main interface for connecting peripherals to household digital appliances.

The development of USB specifications is carried out within the framework of the international non-profit organization USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), which unites developers and manufacturers of equipment with a USB bus. In the process of development, several versions of the specifications have been developed. Nevertheless, the developers managed to maintain a high degree of compatibility of equipment of different generations. The interface specification covers an unprecedentedly wide range of issues related to the connection and interaction of peripheral devices with a computing system:
